FGCU baseball built recipe for success through old-school tactics and kept promises

The FGCU baseball team is picking up right where it left off last season.
After starting the 2025 campaign with a losing record, FGCU rallied late and took home its second ASUN championship, splitting the title with Stetson. Despite the achievement, the Eagles’ season ended when the higher-seeded Hatters advanced to the NCAA Tournament due to heavy rain that ended the game early.
“We have to put last year behind us,” head coach Dave Tollett said. “It was a heartbreaking moment and we got to move...

It was the final outing between the two teams, and Tuesday’s loss ties the season series at two apiece. The Eagles most recent loss was also against FAU in a 8-1 final in April.
FGCU held off FAU in the first two innings behind strong performances from its outfielders and starting pi...

OPINION: Introducing NBA G League players into NCAA play is dangerous to the high school recruit

For most of its existence, the NCAA drew a line between professional and amateur basketball. The G League-to-NCAA route is a growing controversy in the sports world. It grew in popularity after G League player Thierry Darlan was granted eligibility to play college basketball again at Santa Clara University in California. Since then, other players have tested their luck and found themselves playing in the NCAA.
Prior to Darlan’s case, once a player signed a contract with either the NBA or the G-L...

Chery established Blind Eye at the start of the fall semester as a space f...

The FGCU volleyball team showed no mercy, sweeping the first three sets to record its third straight ASUN victory against West Georgia on Friday.

The FGCU baseball team opened its 2026 season with a three-game sweep against North Dakota State this weekend at Swanson Stadium. It is the first time the team has won all three games in its opening weekend since beating Hofstra in 2023.
In a dramatic start to the season, the Eagles secured their first win with a 2-1 walk-off victory in 10 innings on Feb 13. They followed it up with a 19-18 extra-inning win Saturday before closing out the weekend with a 10-6 comeback victory Sunday.

New faces, new problems: An early analysis of FGCU women’s basketball 2025-26 season

A quarter of the way into the 2025–26 season, the Eagles sit near the bottom of the ASUN at 3–5. A year that was expected to build on last season’s success has instead raised early concerns about the first season of FGCU’s women’s basketball program. A sudden change of faces on and behind the bench might be to blame.
Nearly every major contributor from last year’s roster either graduated or transferred, leaving the program with limited returning experience. Former head coach Chelsea Lyles reunit...
